No Rain, No Gain

11.6 miles in 2hrs (10:20 pace)

I decided to keep it simple this weekend and just do a run around town, instead of going to White Rock Lake. I plotted my route with Google Earth on Friday. That night, I drove over and sat out a bottle of Gatorade at the halfway point. I was expecting cloudy skies, since there was supposed to be a 40% chance of rain, but no such luck. It was sunny with no clouds as soon as the sun popped out an hour into my run. It felt like the sun was sucking all the energy out of me as I ran. I was also wearing the big technical shirt I got from the Houston Marathon, because I didn't expect it to be nearly as hot as it was. Otherwise, I would've worn a singlet or nothing at all. The thing was saturated with sweat and felt like a huge added weight as I ran.

I originally planned a 13 mile run, but cut it to 11.6 when I was coming up on the 2hr mark and realized I was going to have a crummy time. After I hit 2hrs (11.6mi) I just walked the rest of the way back home. My legs were a little sore the rest of the day, so I at least felt like I gave a good effort despite the heat. I'm looking forward to finally getting myself acclimated to the heat though, so it doesn't effect me so much.

Good songs I listened to on the iPod:
Copeland - "No one really wins"
Armor for Sleep - "The truth about heaven"
Gym Class Heroes - "7 Weeks"
Maroon 5 - "Infatuation"
Blood Sweat and Tears - "Lucretia MacEvil"
Eagle Eye Cherry - "Save Tonight"
