Chasing the Dream

Well I haven't done anything since last Thursday, and I don't feel bad about it. Coming off the RnR Arizona Marathon, I probably did more than I should've anyhow.

I will be volunteering at the Rocky Raccoon 50m/100m in two weeks and I'm excited to be getting involved. I'm going to be working The Far Side aid station for most of the race, then I'll jump in as a pacer for the last 20 miles. I've never been a pacer for anyone, so this should be a great learning experience. I got myself an LED headlamp because the portion of the run I do will likely be dark. I feel like signing up for this thing means I'm really serious about working towards my own 100 mile race eventually, and not just talking about it.

The plan is to do light mileage this week with plenty of cross-training on machines, or in the pool. I'll do a 13-15 mile run on Sat, then keep everything light next week before the race. I'm still not in the clear for post-race injury and would hate to hurt myself after committing to this event. At the same time I have to stay in shape because another runner will be depending on me to keep them going out there.

This is a photo of me and John "The Penguin" Bingham at the race Expo before my marathon. He's a really funny guy!

Pacing is one of the most greatest experiences I ever had!! I paced twice at a 100, and both times it was a total blast! Have fun!

I have a friend up here from Wisconsin coming down to do that race! His name is Chris Clausen; he's done a few Ultras. Hopefully you will run into him. I have no idea how large(or small) the field is. Have a good time. Jen
