Run Info6.15 miles
9:23 pace
183 avg bpm
This is exactly the kind of run I needed to do, but couldn't do on my own right now.
a) It pushed me to keep the kind of pace I could normally do in my sleep for this distance.
b) I remembered what it feels like to push myself through discomfort.
c) How running with others can make you better.
I was amazed I even had the willpower to wake up at 0520 after hitting the snooze about 3 times and asking myself how important it was to go. I got there and saw Mr. Perkins, Chris, Leah, Kristen, COL Methered and 1st Sgt Knowlton. When we left it was cool to just see light starting to poke up over the horizon. 1st Sgt took the lead for most of the run setting a 9:30 pace most of the way. I was doing great until a few of us took a detour through a neighborhood to let Leah and Kristen catch up on the normal route. We tore through the streets at just over a 7:00 pace and my HR topped at 204 bpm. It took me a while to recover from that one, but it was nice to just stride out and stretch your legs for a bit. By the time we got back I was beat and drenched in sweat. We're planning to run on Monday afternoon at 1600 for 3 or 4 miles. Leah wants me to bring my boots so she can see what Kristen's been talking about.

I got home around 0730 and asked my dad if he wanted some eggs and toast before work and he took me up on the offer. It was good having breakfast with him and just BSing for a while, and I know he doesn't always take care of himself when it comes to eating right so it was good to know he was going off with something in his stomach. I'm not sure what I'll be doing the rest of the day, but it will probably include lots of sitting/laying down, very little exertion and maybe some beer. Oh by the way, I just discovered Arizona Green Tea w/ginseng and honey yesterday and it's delicious. It's also 99 cents for a 23 oz. can!
