Run Info20 miles
9:00 pace
3:00:00 total time
I placed water bottles every four miles on the side of the road last night. I ran with Steven who was doing an 14 mile variation of the course with his camelback. It was pretty chilly the whole morning with no wind. I had a shortsleeve shirt on with gloves and beenie and never had to take my gloves or beanie off. I ran a solid 8:30 pace for the first 10 miles but slowly dropped off of that for the second 10. I think it was mostly because there were more hills on the last stretch. The water bottle leaked a lot because they're just so cheap, but worked well otherwise. I ended up not drinking quite as much as I thought I would need to, mostly because of the cold. When I got back, Steven, Israel and I went to IHOP for a huge breakfast. Afterwards we went to the Hot tub at the rec with Valerie and Steven's friend Shannon. It turned out to be a good run on the whole, and Steven got really pumped about it.
A while after I finished, I started to wonder if there was any way I could get some minor sponsorship with my running. Nothing serious, just enough to pay for my race entry and some technical shirts with sponsor logos on them. It would pretty much just be a hobby, and way for me to do races for free. I am technically sponsored by the Corps right now since they have payed for a half marathon and a marathon. In return I wear a Corps Marathon Team uniform for public relationship purposes. I can show prospective sponnsors that I'm legitimate. I can also use news articles I've been in to show that I can attract positive media attention. Heck, I've even place in my division in a few races. I really don't know the first thing about getting sponsored though so if I pursue this any further things will surely be interesting. I'll keep everyone updated!
