Staying on track

Saturday
11 Miles @ 9:40 Pace

So I kept up with my mileage goal last week, despite having skipped Monday and Tuesday altogether. It was a pretty good time trying to do it since most of my weekday runs are 5 miles. Running 6 and 9 was a little more of a challenge.

I got into a scuffle with a driver Saturday night during my long run. I choose somewhat dangerous places to run sometimes, especially at night. I don't really mind though since I'm a guy, and a little bit crazy. So Saturday night, I headed out and was no more than 1 mile into my run on a narrow back road with no shoulder before a car decided to play chicken with me. I'm sure all you frequent runners get this. A driver doesn't want to share the road and swerves towards you to get you to jump off the road. Well this wasn't the first time this has happened at night, and I have since adopted a policy of carrying a rock with me on those kinds of runs to make them regret it. I figure, "If you want to act like you're going to hit me, then I'll make sure your car looks like it hit something." So I tagged this car as it sped by and got a couple honks in response but no more. Hopefully that person will think twice next time before being a wise ass at the expense of a runner's safety.

Okay, well that's that, and now I look forward to having a good week of running.
