Lake Bryan

15 Miles
10:15 pace
I woke up at 0530 and woke Israel about 5 minutes later. I made toast with jelly and we had bananas before picking up Laura on the North side of campus. When we got to the lake at 0610, we didn't realize how dark it was going to be, so we waited in the car until about 0700. It was colder out than we expected, but it felt good once we started running. Laura rode her bike and carried all the Gatorade that Israel and I needed. We were a little confused at the start, but finally figured out where we were supposed to go.

We ran around a 10:40 pace for the first quarter of the run, but I didn't care. We got to see an awesome sunrise and the weather was holding up great. We took off on the West loop, but quickly came back to my truck in the parking lot to refill our water bottles and stretch a little. We proceeded to run the all of the East Loop, the West Loop again, then half of the East loop again! By the time we were finished, my right knee was hurting, Israel's quads were hurting from an earlier squat workout and figured out that it wasn't going to take as long as we expected. We did the whole west loop and Laura's butt hurt from sitting on the bike seat the whole time. All in all, I think we came out on top. We jumped in the truck and headed back to campus while we sucked down the rest of the Gatorade, ate a Snickers Marathon Bar and checked our missed phone calls.

When we got back to campus we had to take a "Chris Ragan Brand" training run finish photo. We held up 15 fingers while in a goofy pose before Laura had to rush off and get ready for the upcoming football game (A&M vs. Baylor).

Afterwards, Israel and I made an awesome salad, ate it, drank beer and chilled by the pool. I had a great time and Israel got motivated about running longer than he ever has before. I guess it was a pretty productive and fun morning!
